Kanab’s Dark Sky Retreat
Dark Sky Glamping at BaseCamp 37° – A Canopy of Constellations Awaits
Proudly recognized as a Kane County Friends of the Night Sky by Stellar Vista Observatory
One Million Stars. Endless Milky Way.
No streetlights. No city glow. Just the open desert and a sky so full of stars, it hardly seems real.
The Milky Way isn’t a whisper here—it’s a bold, glowing arm that stretches across the cosmos. Planets rise. Meteors streak. Constellations pop like never before. The night sky feels bigger, brighter, closer.
At Base Camp 37°, the night sky is everything. And we’re all in.
Friends of the Night Sky: Our Commitment to Dark Skies
We believe in keeping the stars shining bright.
As an official Friend of the Night Sky, Base Camp 37° is committed to preserving Utah’s incredible dark skies.
Our dark sky-friendly lighting helps protect the night sky, support wildlife, and enhance your stargazing experience.
When you stay with us, you’re supporting the effort to reduce light pollution in Kanab and beyond.
Kanab: A Dark Sky Destination
Eighty percent of Americans can’t see the Milky Way from where they live—but in Kanab, it’s impossible to miss. Here, the night sky remains as it has for millennia, stretching endlessly above in a brilliance lost to most of the modern world. Utah is home to the highest concentration of International Dark-Sky Association-certified locations on Earth, making it one of the best places to experience the stars in their full glory.
Base Camp 37° sits at the heart of this stargazer’s paradise, surrounded by some of the most stunning dark sky parks in the country. These protected areas ensure minimal light pollution, allowing the cosmos to take center stage. Here are a few of our favorites:
Bryce Canyon National Park – Famous for its high-elevation and breathtaking night sky programs.
Cedar Breaks National Monument – A lesser-known gem with 10,000-foot-high stargazing viewpoints.
Kodachrome Basin State Park – Vivid rock formations set against pristine dark skies.
Zion National Park – Towering cliffs and deep canyons frame one of Utah’s best celestial views.
The Sky Has a Show for Every Season
Some nights belong to the stars—deep, dark skies where the Milky Way stretches wide, and meteors streak across the heavens. On other nights, the moon takes center stage, flooding the desert in silver light and turning the landscape into something surreal.
At Base Camp 37°, you don’t just sleep under the night sky—you plan for it. Whether you want to catch the peak of a meteor shower, witness a total lunar eclipse, or experience the desert under the glow of a supermoon, our Celestial & Full Moon Calendars help you time your stay for something unforgettable.
