Meet Amy

Owner-Operator, Amy Affeld

For years, I explored Grand Staircase-Escalante. I camped, I hiked, I kayaked, and then one year, in 2012, it happened. I bought ten off-grid acres and left the city life behind. These ten acres have evolved since 2012, and so have I. This little slice along the 37th parallel, tucked into the foot of the Chocolate Cliffs, has become not only BaseCamp 37° but also my home. I am excited to welcome you to BaseCamp 37°. I hope you love it as much as I do. That’s my story. I’d love to hear yours.

Meet Stephanie

General Manager, Stephanie Kichler

Teacher, hiker, and lover of the Colorado Plateau. Stephanie has been wandering in and around Kanab, Utah, for nearly a decade. These adventures (and sometimes misadventures) have taken her from the bottom of the Grand Canyon to the highest points of the Aquarius Plateau near Bryce Canyon and everywhere in between. She revels in discovering the hidden nooks and crannies of the region and is always excited to share with guests, friends, and folks passing through. As a former teacher and now the General Manager of BaseCamp 37°, Stephanie loves hosting travelers from around the world and is looking forward to meeting all of you.

The Women of BaseCamp 37°

We get sh*t done.
We play hard.
And, dang, we look good doing it.

We’re proud to be women-owned and operated but also fiercely proud to be small and independently owned. Every part of BaseCamp 37° has been built with the help of friends, family, and our local community. There’s no fancy big whig behind us—just a love for this land and a dream we’re figuring out step by step.
